How will Geopolitics affect the Print Equipment and Services industry? Today I share two videos; one video was published by Bloomberg this week regarding China Banning western technologies. The other is a video I published through, The End Of The Day With Ray! Series, where I share thoughts regarding #Geopolitics regarding Lexmark, a significant provider of A4 Print equipment and supplies whose majority ownership is a Chinese company called Ninestar.
The times we all find ourselves in are disturbing on many levels. Over the last half-decade, I have traveled to China a couple of times and have built great relationships. In addition, I have been honored by the past support of Lexmark as a sponsor of The End Of The Day With Ray!
The realities of today's world have brought much awareness to the free world regarding the outsourcing of its technology and now the free world must respond.
Will the western world and its allies respond to the Chinese Dictatorial Government banning western technologies and products by banning Chinese technologies?
How would such a ban impact #Lexmark and the Chinese new-build toner business of #Ninestar? Will the US federal government and free governments worldwide ban Lexmark Print Equipment or all Chinese technologies?
The time for the western world and its allies to control the manufacturing of its technologies is past due. Instead, we as free societies must take the threats of outsourcing our technologies to non-democracies seriously.
Opposing governments can live together; however, free governments can not find themselves in hostage situations. Without controlling all the aspects, including the manufacturing of the technologies we use, we are subject to those who control it. The world has changed drastically, and the time is now for the free world to take control of its technologies, or one day soon, we will be held hostage.
Stay tuned to #TheEndOfTheDayWithRay! for more on this subject. The links to videos are below.

Effissimo Capital investment in Ricoh moves into activist status, Expect big changes. I also share how I see Marco completely reinventing the infrastructure of national account sales and services. The OEMs will not ignore anything they believe can cut massive cost and streamline processes. The question is, how will the other OEMs work with MARCO's new infrastructure? It's my thinking the other OEMs should learn from what I believe Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S. did wrong.
Brother is doing great in industrial print when you compare them to both Ricoh and Konica Minolta. It is clear year after year those two should seriously consider exiting the industrial print space as either of them seem to have a growth strategy other than hope! I also share a picture highlighting the potential power of The Workhorse! I am thinking that horse could kick a lot of Konica Minolta A3 Machines out of office windows!
In today's episode I strongly question what I see as endorsements from industry consultants and media regarding Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S. The dealers deserve more advocacy from the industry consultants and anyone who claims they stand with dealers. As share content from some of these industry leaders ask yourself do they really care what's going on or are they just so comfortable pandering it doesn’t matter to them what's going on? I am also concerned that the BTA is quickly losing its position as an advocacy for dealers. I am fearfully that the complacency that comes with comfort is crippling the associations power.
